Higgidy are purveyors of some of the finest pies, quiches and sausage rolls around (even if we do say so ourselves!). From our humble roots as a small family business founded by husband, wife and their best friend (who are all still in the business today) we’ve grown steadily over the last twelve years and now boast a team of 300 permanent staff.

We are now looking for Production Operatives to join the busy Production Team on a permanent basis, undertaking aspects of the manufacturing and packaging processes, always ensuring a focus on safety, quality and hygiene to ensure our customers receive the best possible products. 

Starting rates:

Days – £10.60 per hour

Nights – £11.55 per hour

We work on a 4 on, 4 off shift rotation, from 7am to 7pm / 7pm to 7am.

What’s Involved?

Carrying out department tasks in accordance with departmental processes (SOPs, QAS etc), ensuring quality standards are met at all times. Multi skilling is required so team members must be prepared to move between sections & tasks. Tasks could include:

  • Using cutting, mixing equipment
  • Packing
  • Making product
  • Topping product
  • Use of ovens
  • Use of moving equipment such as trolleys
  • Fetching raw materials for production, ensuring compliance to stock rotation

Complying with all H&S policies and procedures and rectify or report hazards to ensure a safe working environment for all. Stop unsafe activity you see and report it immediately to your SL

Complying with all company policies and procedures

Cleaning as you go at all times to help ensure high standards of hygiene and we deliver on GMP targets

Ensuring that all departmental paperwork is completed legibly and accurately following standard operating procedures.

Diligence in monitoring product quality and report any substandard products or ingredients to your Section Leader or a QA

Helping and supporting new team members and temporary workers for example by showing them how to complete tasks, answering their questions

Ensuring you operate all machinery and equipment in accordance with training/SOPs, including safety start up checks. Report any defects, wear and tear, potential machine or equipment problems or near misses to your immediate supervisor or engineering immediately.

Any other duties which may reasonably be requested of you

What we’re looking for:

  • Previous experience of working in a factory environment
  • Ideally experienced in food handling
  • Ability to communicate well in English, both written and verbally
  • Numerate and literate
