What we’re about

We’re Higgidy and we make feel-good family food, designed to help people live well. Everything we make is as wholesome as it is tasty – this is faff-free food you can feel good about. However, we don’t want to just feel good about our food. We want to feel good about our impact, and to leave the world a little better than we found it. At the heart of this are our company values, or as we call them The Higgidy Way.

Our values encourage us all to ‘Be Kind’ (to be inclusive and fair), “Be Smart” (i.e. act as one team and move forward together) and to ‘Be Brave’ in how we do that (ie. to speak out and challenge even when that is uncomfortable). These values are lived and breathed throughout the Higgidy Family Kitchen and underline how we aim to treat everyone – our people, the local community and the world we live in.

As a business these values have guided us well, and as a result we have so much to be proud of, such as:-

  • Our Gender Pay Gap report shows a 0% differential between our male and female employees
  • We have a majority female-led Leadership Team
  • We have Mental Health First Aiders trained throughout the business
  • We are a Living Wage Employer
  • We offer free impartial financial support and advice for all our team
  • We donated over 30,000 meals to those in need during 2020
  • Our products have ethically sourced ingredients

However, we can’t even begin to pretend that we’ve got it all right. It is important to challenge ourselves and make sure we truly are becoming a kinder workplace, particularly when it comes to issues of race and diversity.

We all have a role to play in this – we must recognise that there are people among us who face battles we cannot understand and that we must learn about these and do anything in our power to help. To further help us on this journey we are making the following commitments:

Be Smarter

Our teams will undertake Diversity and Inclusion training between now and 2021. We hope this training will spark useful conversations and help our teams understand the positive changes they can all make.

Being Kinder

We will launch our internal mentoring programme in order to help members of our teams to develop and progress within our business.

Being Braver

In 2021 we will launch our Pathways into Employment programme, which will engage with members of our community needing extra support into re-employment.

We are excited about this journey and look forward to making our workplace a Kinder, Smarter and Braver place.
