Charity Christmas Feast

We’re now fully in the swing of the festive season and have already had our fair share of mince pies, mulled wine, and an abundance of questionable knitwear. But what’s most important to us at Higgidy, is celebrating the good times this Christmas and giving back to our local communities.

That’s why we recently teamed up with our local friends at UKHarvest and Home-Start Chichester to host a fabulous feast for families needing some much-needed festive cheer as we set to make Christmas 2021 the Christmas of all Christmases!

Some of the Higgidy Volunteers

UKHarvest is a food waste prevention charity who provide much needed assistance to charity networks and vulnerable people in the south of the UK. By collecting surplus food from providers and delivering it direct to community initiatives, they’re helping to reduce food waste and provide meals to those who need them most. Find out how we teamed up earlier this year to help reduce food waste, here.

Having been friends with UKHarvest for a while now, they kindly connected us with Home-start Chichester, a local community network of volunteers who provide invaluable support to families with young children who are often working through challenging times. So far, they’ve helped support 98 families within the local community which is fantastic!

Our team of Higgidy volunteers were absolutely thrilled to be able to bring some joy to the families attending our Higgidy Festive Feast, serving a three-course supper of our scrumptious Rolls and Mini Muffins to start, followed by Pies served with roast potatoes and root veggies with all the trimmings, topped off with mince pies for dessert! In addition, there were decorations, crackers, activity packs and goodies to take home (thanks to our fellow B Corp friends at Divine Chocolate). All accompanied by some classic festive tunes and everyone’s best dance moves.

We’re extremely grateful to everyone who helped us spread some festive cheer, including Chichester Community Development Trust who kindly hosted us all.
