Supply Chain Manager

  • Monday to Friday, 09.00 – 17.30, although flexibility is required during peak periods

  • 24 days annual leave basic allowance, exclusive of bank holidays


Higgidy are purveyors of some of the finest pies, quiches and sausage rolls around (even if we do say so ourselves!). From our humble roots as a small family business founded by husband, wife and their best friend (who are all still in the business today) we’ve grown steadily over the last twelve years and now boast a team of 300 permanent staff at our offices here in West Sussex.

To support this continued growth, we are now looking for a Supply Chain Manager to join us. Working within our busy Operation Team, and as part of our Management Team you will be responsible for ensuring the effective management of both the operations planning cycle, warehouse / logistics activities as well as overseeing our Procurement team.

You will need to have the ability to operate within a dynamic workload; from heavy multi-tasking during the peak workloads to very focused, detail-orientated operation while working on other projects. You will also be a real team player with good interpersonal communication skills, whilst being self-motivated to achieve deadlines with high level of accuracy. You will also have excellent problem-solving abilities. 


You will be involved in overseeing a range of business crucial duties including: -



Demand Planning – Full ownership of the process and execution of managing and delivering a demand plan in line with commercial plans. Lead, schedule and control the Demand Planning cycle.

Forecasting Optimisation - Deliver forecast accuracy metrics against agreed targets in conjunction with operations team. Lead responsibility for the management of excess and obsolete inventories.

Service Level Management - Responsible for achievement, monitoring and reporting of defined service levels and champion initiatives to drive service level improvements.

Big Event Planning - Management of big events from an operations perspective by ensuring lead-times, impact on other products and inclusion in demand plans.

New Product Introduction & Product Life Cycle Management - Ensure all product introductions and phasing out of products are being executed in the right manner, taking into account life cycles of products.

Customer Relations - Build a working relationship with key customers to drive improvements on supply chain activities, external and internal. Work with stakeholders to deliver effective change management.


Warehouse & Logistics

Logistics - Overall responsibility for the daily management of Higgidy and 3PL logistics providers.

Warehousing - Overall responsibility for the daily management of raw material and packaging intake.

Waste Management - Onsite waste management, liaising with waste providers to ensure legal compliance and management of waste streams and cost.



Development - To oversee the development of Higgidy’s stock department for the future Procurement strategy

Contracts – To oversee the strategic negotiation of key contracts adding value wherever possible

Sustainability – to drive an ethical mindset within our Purchasing team, ensuring they are visiting and speaking to suppliers to ensure they comply to our Ethical Trading Policy.

The ideal candidate will be:

An experienced Supply Chain manager, with experience from a manufacturing or production environment ideally

Strong at interpersonal and negotiation skills

Equipped with a high level of commercial awareness

Experienced in influencing teams and building relationships inside and outside the organisation

Proactive and adaptable

Accurate, methodical and organized with an eye for detail
