Management Accountant

Higgidy are purveyors of some of the finest pies, quiches and sausage rolls around (even if we do say so ourselves!). From our humble roots as a small family business founded by husband, wife and their best friend (who are all still in the business today) we’ve grown steadily over the last twelve years and now boast a team of 300 permanent staff at our offices here in West Sussex.

We are now looking for someone to join our busy Finance team as a Management Accountant. The Management Accountant position is a key liaison role, bridging the Finance and Operations functions.  The role is one of support, partnership, insightful analysis, but also challenge and requires excellent communication skills translating the world of finance and operations into one of a common understanding with the aim helping the Operations team in driving forward performance and delivering on business objectives.

The day to day role of the Management Accountant will include:

Business Partnering

·         Building key relationships across the business particularly with the Operations function acting as the primary point of contact to provide financial insight in order to drive decisions

·         Providing good communication between Finance and Operations tailoring explanations to the required audience

·         Responding to queries and ad-hoc requests in a friendly manner and be driven to challenge decisions where necessary

·         Collaborating with the business to develop understanding of the Factory process


·         Providing reliable weekly/ monthly KPI reporting and identify potential risks or opportunities to key stakeholders

·         Developing the month end financial pack to offer greater insight into operational performance

·         Providing weekly/ monthly variance analysis articulating movements to budget in a clear concise manner

·         Deep dives into specific areas of interest which present challenges, risks or opportunities


·         Responsible for new product costing and reflecting product changes to ensure they are reliably accounted and reported

·         Developing existing product costing process to become more automated and efficient

·         Overseeing and maintaining the standard costing system


·         Supporting the Finance Controller to provide accurate management information, month end reports and responses to audit queries

·         Helping to align financial data across the business providing ‘one set of numbers’

·         Providing budgets and forecasts with key assumptions and R&Os

The right person will have:

·         CIMA (preferred) /ACCA/ACA Part/Qualified

·         Prior knowledge gained in Operations/Manufacturing environment

·         Ability to analyse and interpret variances, and drive business improvement

·         Strong IT skills, including excel (incl. financial modelling)

·         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
