Sorry Spinach
I really like spinach! I cannot deny
I like it in salad or cooked in a pie.
I’d happily eat spinach for three meals a day,
But it's still not as nice as a mushroom I’d say.
I really love mushrooms, they’re my favourite food,
They’re tasty and do my insides so much good.
You see my dilemma, I like spinach lots,
But mushrooms so often beat it to the pot.
Now, I don’t want spinach to get all upset
By thinking it’s second to mushrooms, and yet
My love for the funghi is such that I wish
I could find space for both in my life, in one dish!
This foody love triangle was harming my health
But when I went shopping . . . there, on the shelf,
What a blessed relief, what a lovely surprise,
Higgidy mushroom and leaf spinach pies!
