Free Range Pork Sausage & Mash Pie

Coarsely cut pork sausage, piled into our seeded shortcrust pastry, topped with potato mash and a roasted cherry tomato.

What we suggest...

With the higgidy Free Range Pork Sausage and Mash Pie there's nothing's better than some Pan Fried Cabbage with Whole Grain Mustard. It's easy to cook and nothing like that horrid stuff you used to get at school.

Pan Fried Cabbage with Whole Grain Mustard

  • 4 tbsps cider vinegar
  • 4 tbsps water
  • 2 tbsps olive oil
  • a big knob of butter
  • Half a green cabbage, core and stalk removed, shredded
  • 3 ½ tbsps grainy mustard
  • Salt and freshly milled black pepper
  1. Place the cider vinegar, water, olive oil and butter in a large frying pan.
  2. Place the shredded cabbage on top and cover with a lid.
  3. Place over a hot heat and bring up to the boil. Cook, covered for approximately 3 minutes. The liquid will steam cook the cabbage.
  4. Remove the lid and bubble away the excess liquid, turning the cabbage from time to time, this will take about 2 mins.
  5. Add the whole grain mustard and season. Turn the cabbage and lightly fry for a further 30 seconds.
  6. Serve with a warm Higgidy Sausage and Mash Pie and a large glass of ale.

Seriously, your pies are bloody tasty! Ive had the chicken one and the beef and stilton one and look forwad to trying the sausage one. One suggestion, make them a bit bigger so I have an excuse not to cook vegetables.

A free pie would go down well but perhaps i’m being greedy….
Cheers,
Simon

Morning Higgidy
Came across one of your pies yesterday, and had for my tea. It was lurvely. It was made even more lurvely, as, as I read the packaging, I discovered your pies are made in lovely Shoreham-by-Sea!! I grew up in Shoreham!! but now live in deepest Norfolk!

Just thought I would let you know that your pies knock spots off any other ‘bought’ ones! We can’t get them in Ashbourne, but whenever I go near a Booths supermarket (our favourite, but the nearest is Knutsford!) I always but at least one of your pies. They are so tasty and we love the quirky info on the packaging. Thankyou!
