Our Daily Pie Inspection

At army boot camp a picky sergeant lines up the troops each day to check everyone has polished their boots and is standing straight (we've seen it on TV). Well, it's a bit like that at higgidy - every afternoon we "inspect the pies". It involves a gathering of cooks from various sections of the kitchen and we go through a selection of the pies and quiches from the day to check they are looking and tasting "tip-top". It involves lots of tasting, smelling, feeling and looking but it helps us make sure that a higgidy pie is as good as it should be.
