We've found away to make our packaging more easily recyclable. It's all a bit technical so if you are not interested in that kind of stuff you may want to move on to the next news item!!! The inside of the higgidy packing is coloured - our customers are always telling us how much they like this, a kind of colourful surprise when you open the box. However to do this and to ensure the cardboard is food safe it has needed a special lamination to seal the ink into the board. Technically this has been 'recyclable'. However we have learnt that saying something is 'recyclable' and making sure it is easily recyclable in your local facilities is two different things. Like a 'Tetra-Pak' container this lamination meant that the cardboard is only possible to recycle in special facilities of which there are very few in the UK. So our technical team and advisors have put in some hard work and come up with a food safe varnish that is easily recyclable in a normal cardboard recycling plant. Over the course of the next month all the Higgidy boxes will be reverting to this new varnish on the inside. That's one little challenge we're very pleased to have solved...
