Higgidy

An Exciting Day

Today is a very exciting day for us down in the higgidy kitchen because we have just sent our first van load of a new higgidies to the shops... and it’s not a pie, it’s a slice.

You see we’ve been thinking, just because someone has to eat in a hurry, doesn’t mean they have to eat something not-very-nice. So Camilla started inventing some little higgidy slices with her own crispy rough puff pastry, layered with lovely higgidy toppings.

You can find our little slices in Boots (and Waitrose from next week), we hope you enjoy them.

Have you had a higgidy slice?\n Did you like it?

Will definitely get the wife to get them again.
Well done, good recipe.

I tried the spinach, pesto and goats cheese slice with my boots meal deal and I’m now officially ADDICTED!! I can’t stop eating them! They went out of stock for one day in my boots last week and I was devastated and refused to eat anything else lol! They are AMAZING, I think i need a big box full of them to tide me over lol

Yes, I liked it! Back from a 4-week stay with daughter and grand-daughters in Canada where I ate extremely well. Shopped at Sainsbury’s Redditch and spotted Spinach, Pesto & Goats’ Cheese Slice. Adore Higgidy pies (vegetarian, of course), so grabbed 2 slices. Would they be as delicious as the pies? Yes, they were, so another foray planned to Sainsburys, but also the Good Food Show at the NEC. Hurray for Higgidy!

No, I haven’t yet tasted your Higgidy Slice but I intend to do so because I often buy your products. My point in emailing you is to say “what a wonderful idea”. When you live alone the current supermarket trend of ‘three for two’ etc is overwhelming because many of us just don’t want to eat the same thing for days on end and there is only so much you can store in a freezer! It will be lovely to be able to buy a simple slice of something delicious and I will make sure I tell all my single friends about it, too, because they all feel as I do. Well thought out Camilla!

With very best wishes,
Caroline W.

p.s. Perhaps Camilla could become an adviser to the big supermarkets – there are a lot of us ‘lone grannies’ out here which means they are losing a lot of money because of their greedy marketing.

Already tried the pancetta, I thought the quiche was good food, but the pancetta is as good as it gets, and I have not even tried it warm yet. So Camilla keep inventing, as long as you are inventing, I am eating. Thanks Higgidy, and a big thankyou to Camilla. So cool.

Yes, I liked it very much.

One consideration though – I particulalry love the pastry used in the larger pies – the missing ingredient is the herbs used in the pie pastry – could this be added to the puff pastry used in the slice?

Thought I’d try something a tad different from the usual lunch time sandwiches so bought a Pancetta, Red Onion & Mature Cheddar Slice. They taste great, how about selling them in multipack’s? :)

I by my pies in Sainsburys as it is difficult for me to getinto town I will look out for the slices next time I go.

The slices will be too big for 1 person but I suppose I could cut one up and put part in the freezer. I am
expecting family from Canada before Whitson so we will try them then.

Had one today for lunch. I’m doing weight watchers – this was in the chiller in the shapers section in Boots. Sadly I can’t see anywhere on the packaging how much it weighs in order to work out my points. If its 150 grams that means I’m waaaaay out on my points today :-s can someone let me know how much each portion is please?

I’m just finishing my Higgidy slice as I type this…. oh my! Absolutely gorgeous! I was caught without lunch today and didn’t think I’d find something quite so up my street as this, and in Boots, who knew! Nomnom!
